Be a part of an organization that is making a difference in lives of those in need in the inner city

Friends and Community of CES,

Mike Lloyd retired on June 30, 2023, after 11 year’s service as the Executive Director at Community Emergency Service. During his tenure Mike has grown the organization in many areas such as Meals on Wheels, congregational partnerships and outreach, client advocates, upgrading the food shelf to a Super Shelf and adding Ani-Meals. Mike’s compassion and drive to help people who are struggling to make ends meet in their lives, is clear in everything he accomplished. He developed an excellent and committed staff who share his compassion and drive. When COVID hit Mike and his staff took on the many challenges, never missing a beat, as they navigated through the many changes that were required. The CES Board of Directors will miss working with Mike and wish him the very best in his future. Thank you to a great leader!

While we are sad to see Mike go, we are excited by the future of CES, even in this time of transition. We have hired Tony Kroening from SIMA Partners to assist with this important search to find the right person for Mike Lloyd’s position. Our search firm has completed the intake process and has spoken with over 20 individuals in order to build the Position Profile and Opportunity Profile that will be used for networking, marketing and early conversations with prospective candidates.

The search team, along with our consultant, considered the merits, timing, and actual leadership role itself and have unanimously decided to elevate and more properly rename the title of our next leader to “President” of Community Emergency Service. This position is more common for nonprofits of the same size and fits our Strategic Plan, which calls for aggressive growth.

The Board has also asked Linda Velez, Director of Volunteer Engagement to assume the role of Interim Executive Director, while we continue the search for our new President. She has graciously accepted this opportunity and started in the interim position July 1, 2023. Thank you, Linda.
