Meals on Wheels (MOW)
Community Emergency Service Meals On Wheels (MOW) is an important solution to both short term emergency and long term living situations and hunger facing many people in the community. It is designed to deliver a prepared, nutritious, hot noon meal—Monday through Friday—to homebound seniors and, in some cases, physically disabled non-seniors who are unable to manage their own meal preparation.
In the last year, our Meals On Wheels program began serving homebound seniors a hot or frozen meal in the Loring Nicollet and North Minneapolis areas in addition to the Phillips neighborhood. We serve 325 people daily, which makes us the largest MOW program in Minneapolis.
Our meals are delivered mostly by volunteers. We have over 500 dedicated individuals, most from downtown corporations and congregations, who make this service to homebound seniors possible. They deliver a hot nutritious meal and a warm and friendly face!
Ani-Meals is a program that helps our Meals on Wheels clients keep their beloved pets healthy. Those receiving home delivered meals have a number of things in common. They are often at nutritional risk and may spend most of their time in relative isolation.
